Dietmar Hecht, a withdrawn theatre teacher, lives in quiet isolation. In his class, he meets Immanuel, a fifteen-year-old student. Something opens up in him that he cannot name and cannot stop.
The film draws on a real bond: the relationship between Alexander Peiler and the teacher who loved him. From that biographical seed, ICH LIEBE traces the shape of a longing that has nowhere to go.
